Former Chimneys
At present the building has one single and two double chimneys. They were built from brick together with the wall and are not structurally separated from it. Wood- or coal-fired stoves were installed in every room. There were no stoves in the hallway. The old chimneys must be dismantled in any case.
Installation of New Chimneys
After demolition, one chimney will be installed as an exhaust system Kamtec LAS 180 by Wienerberger. This chimney will have only one connection in basement level 2 and is intended for connecting a boiler in the technical room in the lower basement. The system has W3G approval (moisture resistant, suitable for all fuels and soot-fire resistant).
The second chimney will be of type LAS 200. It will have outlets in basement level 2, in the hallway on every floor, and in the living room of the apartment on the top floor. The exhaust pipe with a diameter of 200 mm allows the connection of wood-burning fireplaces.
Chimney Foundations
The foundation of the two chimneys should end at the level of the upper basement floor. Therefore the chimneys must be installed starting from the upper basement level.
Maintenance
Cleaning openings are installed in the basement corridor of the upper basement level.
An inspection opening is planned in the attic, therefore no additional roof structures are required.
The chimneys are made of ceramic and have high airtightness and excellent thermal insulation properties even without plastering. The fire resistance class is LA90.
The heating system will be supplied with fresh air through the chimney, allowing it to operate independently of indoor air.
Buffer Heat Storage Tank
A buffer heat storage tank with a capacity of 5.5 m³ will be installed in the technical room on the lower basement level. It ensures efficient operation of the heating system. The tank is double-walled and made of stainless steel. Previously this tank was used in the chemical industry. The double-wall construction with insulation between the layers minimizes heat loss.
