Istvan Sky (István Jeszenszky)
10 November 1962 – 13 July 2024
Istvan Sky, a Hungarian musician, was an extraordinary and remarkable human being.
According to Istvan himself, his love for music was instilled by his mother. She was always humming something, teaching him, and bought him his first zither. She passed on to him a deep spiritual energy.
Istvan possessed many talents: he wrote beautiful poetry, composed music of the soul, and played a wide range of instruments with great skill, including sarod, tambura, zither, harmonica, kalimba, flute, hang drum, shamanic frame drum, and of course the guitar.
Perhaps his greatest gift, however, was his voice — naturally pure, high, powerful, and possessing a wide timbral range. Drawn to Indian classical and spiritual music, Istvan lived in India for around fifteen years, absorbing its culture. He explored Tibetan and shamanic music, monastic chanting, mastered overtone techniques, and the art of throat singing.
After returning, Istvan Sky settled in a house in nature near Lake Balaton. He gave concerts in his yurt “Healing Garden” next to the house Napfényszentély — Surya Sangita Ashram (Sanctuary of Solar Light). He participated in numerous music festivals, including Everness Festival, Fényünnep (Hungary), Icaros Festival Musica Medicina (Portugal), World Music Festival Delhi (India), and New Healing Festival (Germany). He also opened the Dakini Festival (Tusla) in Romania.
With his signature programs “Healing Concert” and “Voice Healing Retreat”, Istvan Sky traveled to many countries, including India, Vietnam, Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Switzerland, Mexico, Guatemala, Poland, the Czech Republic, Argentina, Austria, Germany, and of course Hungary. During his concerts, Istvan’s spiritual practice created an atmosphere of sincerity, intimacy, and elevation. His voice carried both therapeutic and healing power.
Creative Work, Music
Istvan’s songs are diverse. Some are purely lyrical, others are mantras, and some combine both lyricism and mantra. The greater part of his creative work is vocal, in which he employs various techniques and раскрывает the full spectrum of his vocal possibilities.
His musical compositions can be broadly categorized as Healing Mantras, Avatar Chanting, Shamanic Music, Overtone Singing, and Sacred Sound Healing.
One of his best-known compositions, “The Song of the Butterfly”, was created as a collaborative project with Estas Tonne, Pablo Arellano, and Indre Kuliesswift and recorded in June 2014. Other well-known works include “Impossible Shamanic Voice”, “Heart Healing”, and “Om Mani”.
We hope that Istvan will live not only in our memory, but also in this warm and peaceful place.

Signature Collection
We are collecting signatures to help accelerate this project.
The Istvanplatz memorial project faces several challenges. One of them is the presence of telephone distribution cabinets in front of the site, which need to be removed. Additionally, official permission is required to install the Istvandukt memorial. To address these issues, various authorities must be contacted.
We believe that public support can positively influence these decisions. Therefore, we invite all admirers of Istvan’s creativity and philosophy, his students and followers, to add their signature. You may use one of the prepared forms or a blank sheet. Signed sheets can be sent by post. This signature entails no obligation — it is only for the history of Istvanplatz. You may write in any language. Thank you for your participation!
